My Top 10 Astrology Books

I am often asked by astrology clients what are some good astrology books to read to get a better understanding of the craft. Here are my top 10 favorite books that can give you a deeper dive into understanding astrology and ways to read your chart.

Making the Gods Work for You by Caroline Casey

This is a fun and insightful introduction to the planets and their influence in our astrological charts. Casey is full of wit and warmth as she guides us to better understand the specific characteristics of the planets.

The Only Way to Learn Astrology by Marion March and Joan McEvers

This is a classic astrology series which gives you the basic principles for reading your astrology chart. It is written by two of the Grande Dames of astrology.

Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil by Liz Greene

This book is on the list as I was taught by my astrology teacher the critical importance of understanding Saturn in a chart. Also, Liz Greene is one of the great astrologers of our time who combines depth psychology into her reading of charts. Any book by her is worth a read.

The Twelve Houses by Howard Sasportas

To get an understanding of the meaning of each of the 12 astrological houses, I recommend this book by Sasportas. It also shares the meaning of planets when they appear natally in the different houses.

Key Words for Astrology by Hajo Banzhaf and Anna Haebler

These authors have written a reliable quick astrology reference book. You can easily look up the meaning of the houses, the planets and aspects between planets.

Chiron and the Healing Journey by Melanie Reinhart

In my opinion, if there is one asteroid to know about, it’s Chiron. Reinhart’s book is a comprehensive look at the meaning of the wounded healer energy in our charts.

Astrology: A Cosmic Science by Isabel Hickey

Hickey takes you on a more spiritual translation of the aspects between planets.

Aspects in Astrology by Sue Tompkins

A good book to learn more in depth about how to interpret aspects between the planets.

Planets in Transit by Robert Hand

This quick reference book goes through all the aspects between planets as they transit through our charts. It is a helpful book to have handy when you are looking for a high-level overview of the dance between planets.

The Gods of Change by Howard Sasportas

To dive into Uranus, Neptune and Pluto transits this is a good place to start.
